What is it?
• PrEP is a medication taken before potential exposure to HIV that can significantly reduce the risk of getting HIV.
Who would benefit from PrEP?
• People with multiple sex partners.
• Individuals who attend play parties or participate in group sex.
• People whose partner(s) may have HIV.
• Anyone who is sexually active and prefers a proactive prevention strategy for HIV.
What form is it available in?
• Daily oral pill
• Long-acting injectable
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis)
What is it?
• PEP is an emergency medication used to prevent HIV after a possible exposure, but...
It is TIME SENSITIVE!
• PEP must be taken within 72 hours of the exposure in order to be most effective.
Who should consider taking PEP?
• Anyone who has a condom slip off or break during sex.
• Someone who experiences an unexpected exposure.
• Anyone who believes they may have been exposed to HIV.
What form is it available in?
• 28-day course of oral pills
